Johnson Controls’ security and monitoring platforms had evolved through years of growth, resulting in fragmented user experiences, inconsistent workflows, and redundant tools across their global operations. Operators faced steep learning curves, slow response times, and limited visibility across systems — all within a high-stakes environment where seconds matter. The challenge was to unify these complex interfaces into one cohesive, data-driven experience that could scale across industries and geographies.

The objective was to create a centralized, intuitive platform that streamlined critical security workflows, simplified data visibility, and supported faster decision-making for global monitoring teams. The design needed to reduce operational friction, align with Johnson Controls’ brand of precision and reliability, and establish a scalable design system that could be adopted across future product lines.

Through a human-centered redesign, I introduced a modular UX framework that unified multiple command systems under one visual language. Using service blueprints and journey mapping, I identified bottlenecks in the operator workflow and optimized key interactions for efficiency and clarity. The final solution delivered a data-rich, real-time command interface that improved situational awareness, reduced task time, and enhanced system adoption rates.
